Conrad Moss (Primera-TeamJobs) secured a third consecutive victory at the Giant Helston 25-mile time trial near Newquay, while Hannah Rainger (Plymouth Corinthian CC) won the women’s event.

46-year-old Moss clocked 49:56 to leave Donald Brooks second, the Mid Devon CC rider completing the course in 50:32, while Gavin MacDougall (Royal Navy & Royal Marines CA) was third with 51:53.

Moss continued his run of form, keeping up the streak of wins beginning at the start of July.

“I was fairly pleased,” he said afterwards. “The wind turbines were moving pretty fast down there. It was pretty tough out on the long legs and fast on the return legs. They were nice roads to race on in Cornwall and very quiet with the early start.”

In the women’s event it was Hannah Rainger that claimed top spot, finishing the course in a time of 1:02:04.

Martina Geraghty (Penzance Wheelers) clocked in at 1:02:24 to take second spot just 20 seconds behind the winner, while third place was Rebecca Stobart (Tri Logic Cornwall) who came in at 1:03:00.

Rainger finished third behind Geraghty last week in the Plymouth Corinthian CC 50, the tables were turned this time around over the shorter distance as Rainger was able to narrowly beat her closest rival by 20 seconds.

Stobart had only participated in one event prior to this so far this season and it was the same event a month ago. The Giant Helston 25 in June saw Stobart finish second to Geraghty.
