Samuel Wadsley stormed to his second open victory of the season, while Charly Helyar won her first event of 2021 at the Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers 10-mile time trial in Hampshire on Sunday.
Meanwhile in the road bike event Nick Tyrie and Rebecca Pearce were fastest male and female riders respectively in the ‘no aero’ category.
Run on the P311 out and back course near Ringwood, the course takes riders from a start south of the town and down the B3347 to the turn at Sopley.
Wadsley, the 23-year-old who rides for Primera-TeamJobs, clocked 20-42 to win by 13 seconds from team-mate George Skinner. And Primera secured a clean sweep of the podium with veteran Paul Jones taking third in 21-06.
47-year-old Charly Helyar (VTTA West Group) was quickest female in a time of 26-10, giving her a first win of 2021 having previously placed second in the Tetbury Velo 10 in late April.
She was almost three minutes clear of her nearest rival in Rachel Hackman (Royal Navy and Royal Marines CA).
While Tyrie (Primera-TeamJobs) was quickest on a road bike in 22-38, Wessex Road Club’s Richard Porter was second, 29 seconds off the pace, and Will Page (Primera-TeamJobs) was third.
Much chatter also surrounded the fourth-placed rider in the road bike event – former National 12- and 24-hour champion Eamonn Deane who clocked 23-59 as he returned to racing.
Tyrie’s win comes after he was similarly victorious in the road bike event at the VC Venta 10 and Brighton Mitre 25 in April.
Pearce – the only woman to ride the road bike event – took the win in the colours of Ridgeway Riders in a time of 28-35.
