Gabe Dellar (Southampton University) climbed to the top spot in the Sussex CA hill climb event, while Miriam Jessett (Vredestein Basso) was the fastest finisher in the women’s event.

20-year-old Dellar clocked in at 4:14.58 to take the victory, though it was close as the next fastest finished just a second slower.

Second place behind him was Cormac Nisbet (High Wycombe CC), he clocked a time of 4:15.71, just a second quick enough to put him ahead of third placed rider Tobin Brett (Parlay CC) who finished in 4:16.72.

This was the first win of the season for Dellar in his second open hill climb event, he finished fifth in his last event. He will be looking to carry this winning form into his next event, the Blazing Saddles hill climb on Sunday.

In the women’s event it was Miriam Jessett that climbed the quickest in a time of 5:21.77, nearly 20 seconds quicker than any other woman on the day.

Kate Parrish (Lewes Wanderers CC) was second with 5:40.84, while in third was Olivia Webb (Eastbourne Rovers CC) who came in two seconds slower with a time of 5:42.10.

Richard Cartland (HuntBikeWheels.com) was the quickest veteran as he finished the course in 4:19.71 and fourth overall.

The event used the 1,704-yard climb of Bostal Road near Steyning.
