Matthew Smith (Team TMC) added another victory to his collection in the East Sussex CA 10-mile time trial, while Sally Turner (trainSharp) was the women’s event winner.
The 37-year-old put up his second best time over 10 miles this season, a time of 20:16 which was enough to see him secure the victory by nearly 30 seconds and his fourth victory of the season.
In a tight battle for the next two spots, coming in second was Jacob Storey (Partenza-Nude Espresso RT) who completed the course in a time of 20:44 which was just enough to land him ahead of third placed Matthew Woods (Eastbourne Rovers CC) who finished a second later in 20:45.
In the women’s event Turner brought home a victory for trainSharp as she clocked in at 22:31, a time that was over a minute quicker than any other woman. She was also the victor of the East Sussex 25 the following day.
The 41-year-old was claiming her first victory since early July where she came out on top in the a3crg 10-mile time trial event.
Leading the rest of the group was Pip Jenkins (Southborough & Dist Whs) who finished in 23:56. Filling the final podium spot was Anna Dwyer (DRAG2ZERO) who completed the course in 24:19.
Men’s winner Smith also competed in the East Sussex CA 25 the following day but had to settle for second there with Neil Harris taking the win over the longer distance.
The popular G10/87 course begins near East Hoathly and takes riders south down the A22 towards Horsebridge. Just before Horsebridge the riders are instructed to turn back at the Halisham bypass roundabout and head back the way they came towards the finish.
