Victory went to Neil Harrigan and Pip Jenkins in the East Sussex CA 100-mile time trial staged on roads around Upper Dicker on Sunday morning.

Harrigan, the 47-year-old who rides for Gemini BC, clocked a personal best time of 3-56-31 and was the only rider to go under the four-hour mark. That gave him the win by almost five minutes from Nathan Russell (trainSharp), while third was Edward Renwick (Oxford City RC).

Jenkins, the 33-year-old from Groombridge who rides for the Southborough and District Wheelers, won by around 23 minutes with her time of 4-39-47. Second spot went to Jane Wiley (7 Oaks Tri Club) with 5-02-53, while Anita Turner (Eastbourne Rovers) was third female.

"It was going well for 70 miles until I hit a pothole and face planted into a grass verge,“ said Harrigan. "Thankfully I had a soft landing. My tribars were twisted but I soldiered on!

"Conditions were grim with a gusty wind, some heavy showers and quite a bit of standing water.“

This was Harrigan’s first open time trial victory of the season, having placed second in the Sussex CA 30 and Gravesend CC 25 last month.

Starting near Hailsham, the course takes riders through several laps of a course which takes in Ringmer, East Hoathly and up to Uckfield.

The two-rider team prize went to trainSharp with second-placed Nathan Russell being joined by fourth-placed Theo Tadros.
