Kieran Morris

Kieran Morris led a one-two for Oswestry Paragon CC by taking victory in the Nova Raiders CC 10 while Deb Hutson-Lumb won the women’s event for the host club.

Scratch rider Morris, aged 20, recorded a winning time of 19 minutes and 51 seconds to take his third victory on the bounce.

Morris also led a one-two for Oswestry Paragon CC with David Griffiths finishing 31 seconds behind to take second place.

The D10/23R saw riders start north of Waters Upton in Shropshire before competing north on the flat but exposed in places A442 towards the turn at Hodnet and then making the return journey.

Morris had also won the Shropshire CCA 25 in Powys last month and the Mid Shropshire Wheelers 10 also on the D10/23R back in June and made it his third win in a row.

In the Mid Shropshire Wheelers event Morris clocked 19-44 but despite being seven seconds slower this time out his time was enough for victory.

Griffiths won the Oswestry Paragon CC 10 last month but had to settle for second on this occasion finishing behind his team-mate in 20-22.

Deb Hutson-Lumb

Host club rider Dean Callister won a close battle for third with his time of 20-47 some 12 seconds faster than leading veteran Tim Beardmore (Bridgnorth Cycling Club).

Second veteran on scratch was Jonathan Mills-Keeling (Bridgnorth Cycling Club) in 21-50 just four seconds faster than Bryn Davies (Hafren CC).

Quickest junior was Henri Bedford (Revolutions Racing) in a time of 21-17.

In the women’s event veteran rider Hutson-Lumb claimed her first victory of the season clocking 23-21 for host club Nova Raiders CC.

Hutson-Lumb’s only other open event this season came in the Oswestry Paragon 10 when she was beaten into second clocking 23-32.

Fellow veteran Leonie Keeling (Oswestry Paragon CC) finished second in 23-57 while Emma Serjeant (Hafren CC) placed third a further 15 seconds back in 24-12.
