Lucy Rogers (Congleton CC) and David Crawley (Velotik RT) tasted victory in the Birkenhead North End CC Jackie Mac Memorial 25-mile time trial near Prees in Shropshire on Sunday morning.
52-year-old Rogers covered the D25/8e course in 59-59, making her the only female to go under the hour mark in the event with runner-up Janet Fairclough (Liverpool Phoenix CC Aintree) being almost seven minutes slower.
The third fastest woman being another veteran Elaine Jewkes (Port Sunlight Wheelers) with 1-16-45.
In the men’s category Crawley clocked 51-37, giving the 45-year-old victory by two and a half minutes from Tim Beardmore (Bridgnorth CC). Junior Henri Bedford (Revolutions Racing) was another 44 seconds back in third overall as well as being fastest under-18, and fourth was espoir George Higgins (Birkenhead North End CC) with 55-04.
Crawley was also first in the veterans on standard category with +15-26, while second went to Lucy Rogers.
This was Baker’s third open win of the season so far according to his CTT record, having taken victory in the Preston Wheelers 25 and Lancashire Road Club 10 back in May, although since then he has also finished second on two occasions as well as a third in the Warrington Road Club four-up team time trial.
For Rogers this was not the first time she’s been fastest female in a 2021 event, having finished as fastest female in the West Cheshire TTCA 50 a fortnight ago as well as the Crewe Clarion Wheelers 16.5-mile event in May.
Her next ride is the Westmead Team 88 25 next Saturday.
