Having equalled the course record a few weeks ago, UCI road pro rider Ben Turner (Dinnington Road Club) set a new record time on his way to victory in the Tickhill Velo Club 10-mile time trial in South Yorkshire, while Jo Corbett (Sherwood CC) was the fastest female.
22 and from nearby Doncaster, Turner was the only rider to finish the course in under 20 minutes to get the victory, clocking 18-59 to take four seconds off Connor Swift’s previous record set last year.
Turner equalled Swift’s time in the Rossington Wheelers event a couple of weeks ago, but finally managed to beat the record despite less than ideal conditions with a headwind out and a couple of showers.
In second was Neal Parkin (Team Bottrill) who clocked in at 20:39, he was followed by Mark Wolstenholme (Swift Racing) who completed the course in 20:58.
In the women’s event it was Jo Corbett who clocked in at 26:40 to claim the win.
Taking second spot was Amanda Dean (West Hull Ladies) who finished in 28:16, while third was 13-year-old Lydia Turan (Holmfirth CC) who rode a time of 29:50.
Corbett finished second in her last ride out which was the Rossington Wheelers 10. She had a narrow miss of the podium spots in the event prior to that, finishing fourth. This finish makes it back-to-back podium finishes for the veteran rider.
Parkin, the second placed rider in the men’s event, had a run of podium finishes throughout July which he managed to continue through this event also. Meanwhile Wolstenholme was coming off the back of a win in the Otley CC 25, where he won with a time of 53:34.
Runner-up in the women’s category, Dean made this her second podium finish in four events this season. Her last podium was behind today’s winner Corbett in the Rossington Wheelers 10.
