Neal Parkin (Team Bottrill) took his third victory of the season snatching the Rotherham Wheelers 10 by just two seconds, while Elaine Simpson (Sherwood CC) won the women’s race.
Parkin, aged 42, also won the Team Sheffield 10 on the same course in April and took another victory clocking 20 minutes and 26 seconds on this occasion.
The O10/5 course saw riders start outside Cuckney before traveling out and back along the A60 up to the Chesterfield Road junction before making the return journey.
Morning showers made way for a dry afternoon and the roads dried out with riders grateful for little wind along the A60.
The event also marked the centenary anniversary of Rotherham Wheelers, the club celebrated the anniversary last year but due to Covid-19 had to cancel the event.
Parkin was also successful in the Bolsover and District CC 2-up 10 last month and showed his individual speed to win on this occasion.
The top three placings could not have been closer with Ben Pease (Team Moonglu) and Geoffrey Giddings (Team Ohten Aveas) sharing second place just two seconds behind Parkin in 20-28.
Meanwhile, Ian Guilor (Mapperley CC) missed out on a podium place by just two seconds finishing fourth in 20-30.
In the women’s event veteran rider Simpson was taking part in just her second open time trial after taking third place in the Bolsover and District CC 10 on her only other outing.
On this occasion Simpson bettered her time by a minute and 27 seconds to win in a time of 25-33.
Carol O’Connor (Calder Clarion) finished second in 25-50 while Gillian Campbell (Born to Bike / Bridgtown Cycles) placed third on this occasion (27-38).
The event also formed the North Midlands District Junior 10-mile Championship.
Quickest boy was Emil Howell (Matlock CC) in 23-35 while Maia Howell (Matlock CC) was fastest girl in 26-50.
