George Fox (George Fox Cycling Solutions) proved fastest in the Kettering CC 10-mile time trial near Broughton in Northamptonshire, while Emily Moore (Speedhub) was the close winner of the women’s event.
Fox came out on top in a time of 20:44 which was only 23 seconds short of the course record previously set by Matt Bottrill.
Second place went to Chris Spencer (Royal Leamington Spa Cycling Club) as he clocked in just over a minute slower in 21:54, following was Fabos Young (George Fox Cycling Solutions) who finished the course in 22:37 for third.
Prior to his time trial bike victory Fox had competed in the road bike category over the same course less than 30 seconds before starting the solo event, if not for that he may well have broken the course record.
In the women’s event it was Emily Moore that narrowly took top spot with a time of 29:22 to outpace second place who was a mere 13 seconds slower.
Second place had been ridden by Sarah Soden (Leicester Forest CC) who completed the course in 29:35 to beat out Gabriela MacKinnon (Coventry Triathletes) to third place, with a final time of 30:53 to top off the podium.
The quickest veteran on the day outside of Young who took the prize for third spot instead, was Alex Garner (VeloElite RC) who clocked a time of 23:31 which gave him fourth place overall.
The road bike event was also won by George Fox who rode a 22:54 in that. An impressive feat to come and win both events in quick succession. Fabos Young also competed in the two-up event and was able to win that with a time of 23:00 with partner Jack Patmore of the same team.
