Linda Hubbard

Paul Pardoe (Peterborough CC) powered to victory in the Northampton & District CA 10-mile time trial, while Linda Hubbard (Welland Valley CC) snatched victory by just two seconds in the women’s event.

40-year-old Pardoe recorded an average speed of 28.04 miles per hour on his way to clocking the winning time of 21:24 which gave him his fourth win of the season so far.

Second spot went to Sam McDonald (St Neots CC) who managed to finish the course just shy of a minute slower, in 22:21. The third and final podium spot was taken by Jamie Murray (Peterborough CC) who was just two seconds further off the pace in a time of 22:23 in a tight battle that saw second, third and fourth-placed riders separated by just three seconds.

For Pardoe the win continued a rich run of form which has seen him finish in the top two in every event since May.

Hubbard took a narrow victory in the women’s event as she beat her nearest rival by only two seconds with a time of 26:42.

55-year-old Leicester-based Hubbard was participating in her first event since the beginning of July where she placed second in the women’s event at the Northampton and District CA 20.8-mile event.

Hayley Moore (Ilkeston CC) took second in a time of 26:44 to just miss out on top spot, while third was Tonya Smith (Fenland Clarion CC), just off the pace 21 seconds later with a finishing time of 27:05 to complete the podium.

Paul Pardoe

The popular N3/10 course begins just north of Old, heading up minor roads and on to the A14 towards Rothwell, where riders turn and head for home.

A prolific time trialler, Pardoe has tasted victory this season in the King’s Lynn CC 25, the Northampton and District CA 11.2 and the Eastern Counties CA 10-Mile Championship so far this season, but has secured second spot four times this season, and placed third on three occasions.

Hubbard is no stranger to podiums in 2021, although this is her first win in the women’s category. She placed second in the Melton Olympic 25 back in June, as well as the Northants & District CA 10 in April.
