David Bolton (Bristol South Cycling Club) rode his way to the top spot in the PDQ Cycle Coaching 10-mile time trial near Berkeley, while Megan Dickerson (SKODA DSI Cycling Academy) blitzed the field in the women’s event.
The U7B is a relatively straightforward out and back course that sees the riders go north up the A38 until they reach the roundabout at the Slimbridge crossroads before circling and heading back down to the finish line.
52-year-old veteran Bolton clocked a time of 20:59 to fend off runner-up Andrew Derrick (Portishead CC) with 21:35, while in third was David Leighton (Severn Road Club) who finished the course in 21:51.
Despite having a relatively active season, this is the first win of the year for Bolton. His previous highest finish of the season was a fourth that he picked up earlier this month in the VC Bristol 10.
It was a season high for second-placed Derrick also, having previously had a best finish of tenth this season. Leighton also had his previous highest finish of the season at the VC Bristol, where he finished seventh, while this was his first podium finish of the season.
In the women’s event it was talented 25-year-old Megan Dickerson who outclassed the field and pushed the pace to come out on top. She finished with time of 21:41 which was third fastest out of all riders male or female.
Jo Buckland (FTP Racing) finished second with a time of 24:10, while third place went to Lindsey Lyes (The Ark Cycles) who finished the course in 24:25.
Dickerson continued her great form, coming into this event she had won three out of four events prior, so it was no surprise to see her at the top again.
