Fennell and Clay pace to victory in the Catford CC 25
Christopher Fennell (The Independent Pedaler - Nopinz) took the win at the Catford CC 25-mile time trial, while Alex Clay of the same club was the victor in the women’s event in Kent on Sunday.
25-year-old Chris rode a time of 48:30 to beat out his older sibling, 27-year-old Nicholas Fennell (Thanet RC), who trailed behind by a few minutes with a time of 51:15. Taking the final podium spot was Chris Jones (Bynea CC) who clocked in at 55:01.
Earlier in August, Fennell had a 16-event winning streak cut short as he placed second at the National 25-Mile Championship, but he looks set to begin another run of results with today’s win.
He has five upcoming events on his calendar where he will look to continue winnings ways, the next of which being the National 50-mile Championship on the 29th August.
In the women’s event it was Alex Clay that claimed the top spot, she was the only woman to complete the course under the hour, going for 54:17 which was more than six minutes ahead of the next woman.
Second place was Pip Jenkins (Southborough and District Whs) who clocked in at 1:00:42, while Kate Parrish (Lewes Wanderers CC) took the final spot on the podium after riding a time of 1:04:09.
