Jake Sargent (FTP Racing) was the leader of the pack in the Tetbury Velos 10-mile time trial, while Charlotte Emily Daisy Berry (Pro-Noctis - Redchilli Bikes) claimed the top spot in the women’s event.
21-year-old Sargent set a new personal best time of 18-14 on his way to victory. He was the fastest of three who all went under the 19-minute mark.
Felix Wilkinson (Tetbury Velos) came second clocking in at 18:42, and trailing him was Arthur Franklin (FTP Fulfil the Potential Racing) finished just nine seconds behind with a time of 18:51.
Since the beginning of the year there had only been one occasion where Sargent had failed to finish on the podium and that came at the National 100-mile Championship event where he was fifth.
Since then he has won every event that he has participated in and will be looking to continue that run until the end of the season. His next open event is scheduled to be next weekend in the Gloucester City CC 25.
In the women’s event it was Charlotte Emily Daisy Berry that took top spot, narrowly, with a time of 20:41.
Megan Dickerson (Skoda DSI Cycling Academy) was hot on her tail though, finishing just two seconds behind with a time of 20:43 to secure second place. In third was Jessica Rhodes-Jones (AeroCoach) who clocked in at 21:00 to fill the final podium spot.
20:41, the winning time, was also a personal best for Berry. She has ridden the U47R course three times this season, getting progressively faster each time and now riding a new best along with a victory. She boasts a record of three out of three at the course over the season, with this ride being her first open event in over two months.
The U47R course starts near Cricklade and heads north up the A419 until they reach the Driffield junction where they turn and head back to the finish.
