Oliver Peckover

Oliver Peckover (UpShift Nutrition Race Team) set a personal best on his way to victory in the Melton Olympic CC 25, while Jo Corbett (Sherwood CC) won the women’s event.

Peckover, aged 23, is on top form taking six wins already this season before Saturday’s Melton Olympic CC 25.

He continued his winning run taking victory by two minutes in a new personal best time of 47 minutes and six seconds.

Good conditions met riders for the A25/34 event, out and back between Newark-on-Trent and Cotgrave, with a south-westerly wind giving competitors a tailwind on the longer return leg.

Peckover suffered his only defeat this season on the A25/34 last month recording a personal best of 47-26 despite being beaten on that occasion.

In good conditions he knocked 20 seconds off that marker on this occasion to win by over two minutes.

Jo Corbett

Fastest veteran on scratch Matthew Bottrill (Team Bottrill) placed second in 49-13 while Malcolm Smith (Peterborough CC) completed the podium positions (50-47).

Geoff Platts (Team Bottrill) was the quickest veteran on standard with the 66-year-old clocking 53-08 which equated to +19.30 ahead of Keith Ainsworth (Sheffrec CC) with a +19.20.

Veteran rider Jo Corbett (Sherwood CC) placed third on her last A25/34 outing in the VTTA Notts & E. Mids 25 clocking 1-03-21 on that occasion but won the women’s event this time out.

Corbett went almost two minutes faster than that event taking her second open victory of the season in a time of 1-01-32.

Linda Hubbard (Welland Valley CC) was second woman in 1-02-58 while Bethany Spencer (Kettering CC) in 1-03-13.
