Oliver Peckover notched up the first win of a weekend double at the VTTA Notts and East Midlands 10 on Saturday, while Jo Corbett was fastest female on the A10/14 near Long Bennington in Lincolnshire.
Peckover, the 22-year-old from Nottingham who rides for UpShift Nutrition RT, clocked 18-52 to take the win – missing out on a personal best by just five seconds. He was six seconds quicker than Josh Giddings (Z Junior RT) in second spot, while Alex Royle (Manchester BC) was third with 19-03.
And in the women’s category 65-year-old Jo Corbett (Sherwood CC) led the way with 25-03, giving her the top prize by just over a minute from fellow veteran Pamela Moore (Coalville Wheelers), while Michelle Morley (Swift Racing) was third best female.
The out and back course uses the A1 dual carriageway from the start at Long Bennington, heading down to Gonerby Moor before retracing.
This was Peckover’s third win of the season so far and was the first of a weekend double which saw him go on to taste victory in the Solihull CC 10 on Sunday.
He will next be in action at the Melton Olympic CC 10 next Saturday on another Central District course.
Corbett’s victory comes after she placed second in the VC Long Eaton 10 a fortnight earlier, with Ilkeston CC’s Jessica Denman pipping her to top spot on that occasion.
