Mark Holton (Drag2Zero) and Erica Booth (Lancashire RC) added another victory to their tallies by winning the men’s and women’s events at the Lancashire RC 25.
Veteran rider Holton made it a weekend double after winning the previous day’s Chorley Cycling Club 10 and then the Lancashire RC 25 on Sunday.
Holton’s winning time on this occasion was 55 minutes and 15 seconds – two minutes and 49 seconds faster than his nearest rival.
The L2525/1 saw riders start near Garstang before completing a course incorporating the A6 and A586 in Lancashire.
Holton won the VTTA National 15 Mile Championships last season but had not ridden an open event this season prior to this weekend.
Veteran scratch rider John Morgan (Coveryourcar.co.uk RT - Fitted And Tailored Car Covers) had recorded four top-10 finishes this season before Sunday’s event and recorded a time of 55-15 which was good enough to finish runner-up.
Meanwhile, Gethin Butler (Preston Whs) improved significantly on his ninth place in the previous day’s Chorley CC 10 to take third in 55-44.
Booth had been pushed into second place in the previous day’s Chorley CC 10 but returned with vengeance posting a winning time of 58-15, over seven minutes clear of her nearest contender.
That was Karen Bailey (East Lancashire RC) who took second place in 1-05-37 just seeing off the challenge by Sue Cheetham (North Lancashire Road Club) who clocked 1-06-09.
