Mark Holton

Mark Holton (Drag2zero) was fastest at the Chorley CC 10-mile time trial near Lancaster, while Rebecca Rimmington (Team Merlin) claimed top spot in the women’s event.

43-year-old Holton came out on top in this event near Garstang, riding a time of 20:03. He was closely followed by the runner-up who was just 15 seconds off the pace.

Second went to Patrick Hickey (Rossendale RC) who clocked in at 20:18, followed by Tristan Pilling (University of Derby Cycling Club) who claimed the final spot on the podium with a time of 20:46.

With this only being his second event of the season Holton continued his run of podium finishes, going all the way back to 2018. He hasn’t failed to finish on the podium in an open event since June 2018, this being his second win along the way.

Hickey had been very active this season, already riding three times in July prior to this event, throughout the month he missed out on the podium twice, but he has since finished third and came to this event looking to continue a run of form, which he did with a second placed finish.

Pilling is another active rider, also having three events to his name throughout July up until now. This however marked his first time on the podium in the month on his fourth attempt.

In the women’s event it was Rebecca Rimmington that took top spot, narrowly, with a time of 22:15.

Erica Booth (Lancashire CC) clocked in at 22:22, while Deborah Moss (Team Merlin) finished in 22:43 to secure the final podium spot.

Rimmington had just missed out on podium finishes in her last two events, going fourth in both, but she was second in the North Lancashire Road Club 10, which was on the L101 course also, and it was that kind of position she was looking to get back into this time out, which she did by going and getting the win.

Booth had won her last two solo events before heading into this one, finishing fifth in a two-up event in-between, this made it a podium finish in two of the last three for her, dropping back one space this time out.

For Moss, she did not finish in her last event, the Kent Valley RC 15. However she had won the event prior to that, the Border City Wheelers 10 and she put herself back in the top three on this ride.
