Veteran Simon Wilson (Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling) added another victory to his season’s tally in the West Pennine RC 10, while Harriet Gilson (Wigan Whs CC) won the women’s event.
Wilson clocked an average speed of over 33.2 miles per hour as he set a season-best winning time of 18 minutes and four seconds.
The 40-year-old, from Padiham in Lancashire, has already won the Stockton Whs sporting 23 and Manchester Bicycle Club 10 and was again in top spot.
Last season Wilson also clocked a season’s best 10 on the L1015 finishing in a slightly faster time of 17-57 in the Croston Velo 10.
The L1015 starts south of Kendal at Levens on a downhill section and heads out and back on the A590 towards Lindale before finishing before the road kicks back up.
Alex Royle (Manchester Bicycle Club) won the VTTA Yorkshire 25 earlier this season, but had to settle for second on this occasion in 18-53
He led a close battle for second which saw four riders separated by just 16 seconds with Adam MacRae (Crimson Orientation Marketing RT) placing third in 18-59.
On his first outing of the season junior rider Aidan Lawrence (Lancashire RC) was the fastest in his category finishing seventh overall in 19-18 while Patrick Casey (
Team Lifting Gear Products/Cycles In Motion) was quickest juvenile in 20-03.
Keith Murray (Drag2Zero) was second veteran on scratch in 19-19 while Alan Chorley (Seamons CC) was third in the veteran’s category.
Riding in her first event of the season Gilson clinched victory in the women’s event in a time of 22-17, averaging over 26.9 miles per hour.
Last season Gilson competed in two events on the L1015 course clocking 21-32 and 22-25 on them occasions.
Rachel Brown (Carlisle Tri Club) was second woman in 22-38 while Anna Weaver (East Lancashire RC) finished third (22-53).
Quickest veteran woman on scratch was Karen Bailey (East Lancashire RC) in 23-12.
