Oliver Peckover (UpShift Nutrition Race Team) stormed to victory in the Stafford RC 10 by 22 seconds, while junior rider Josie Nelson (Cero/Cycledivision) won the women’s event.

Peckover, aged 23 and from Nottingham, covered the out and back K48/10 course in a time of 19 minutes and 27 to take the day’s honours and was just five seconds off the course record.

The K48/10 course saw riders start in Weston, near Stafford, before travelling on the A51 in a north westerly direction through Sandon before turning at the roundabout near Aston-by-Stone and making the return journey.

It was a return to winning ways for Peckover who had won five events already this season before the event, but had been beaten in the VTTA Notts & E.Mids 25 last weekend.

Alex Pritchard (AeroLab Ward Wheelz) was beaten by Peckover by 20 seconds on his last outing in the Melton Olympic 10 last month.

Pritchard had to settle for second once again on this occasion 22 seconds behind clocking 19-49, while quickest veteran David Mead (Race Rapid) rounded off the podium positions taking third in 20-11.

Mead also placed third in the Coventry CC 10 on his last outing.

Quickest junior was Samuel Hall (Velorunner RT) who recorded a time of 23-59 on his first open outing of the season.

Meanwhile, quickest juvenile Nicholas Smith (Westmead Team 88) set a new personal best time of 29-52 knocking 2-49 off his previous best time.

Under-23 rider Nelson was making her debut open time trial coming from a background of cyclo-cross, road and track racing.

Nelson spent last winter on the continent racing international cyclo-cross races and finished 22nd in the Cyclo-Cross World Championships in Belgium in January.

Showing her early-season form on the time trial bike Nelson took victory in a time of 23 minutes and 16 seconds.

Veteran rider Denise Burrows (AeroCoach) continued her search for a maiden win of the season taking second woman in 24-59.

Mapperley CC's Ian Guilor was fastest veteran on standard with an age plus of +5.38, just over a minute better than Ian Holbrook (Stone Wheelers) with +4.35 while third best veteran on standard was Warwickshire Road Club's Scott Povey with +4.34.
