Oliver Peckover (UpShift Nutrition Race Team) completed a weekend double of victories by winning the Solihull CC – Red Lion #2 11.5-mile time trial, while Deborah Sheridan (Warwickshire Road Club) won the women’s event.
Peckover, who turns 23 this week, won the VTTA Notts & E.Mids 10 on Saturday before taking victory at the Solihull event the following day.
It was his third and fourth wins of the season after also taking victory in the Burton & District CA 25 and Velo Club Long Eaton 10 events earlier this month.
The Red Lion #2 event is over 11.5 miles and uses an old undulating course often used pre-1990s.
Riders had to overcome the technical challenge of country lanes with the road surface deteriorating towards the finish and a long and draggy climb towards the end.
Chilly conditions and a light easterly breeze welcomed riders for the event with Peckover completing the course in 23 minutes and 45 seconds.
David Fellows (Solihull CC) had a good opening weekend of his season finishing second in the Stratford CC 10 on Saturday before pushing Peckover all the way using his local knowledge of the course to finish just seven seconds down in 23-52.
Jack O’Neil (Team Jewson - MI Racing) led the fight for third place finishing in 25-05.
Quickest veteran on scratch was Tim May (PDQ Cycle Coaching) in 25-44 ahead of Ed Moss (Beacon Roads CC) taking second (27-08) and Neil White (Ambion Racing Team) third in the age category (27-41).
Juvenile rider Ben Woodhouse (Solihull CC) put in a fine ride of 30-17 to finish 12th overall and was fastest in his age category.
Veteran rider Sheridan made her season debut in the Stratford CC 10 last weekend and took her opening women’s win clocking a time of 32-11.
Nadine Thomas (Inflite-Dynamic Rides Race Team) finished second woman in 34-50 while Kelsie Johnson (Total Tri Training) took third in 37-23.
