Paul Jay (Drag2Zero) sealed his opening victory of the season in fast conditions at the VC Baracchi 50, while Gillian Leech (Loose Cannon's Conditioning) was a clear winner of the women’s event in Norfolk.

Jay, aged 44 and from Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, rode to a clear victory with his time of one hour, 51 minutes and 19 seconds over a minute clear of his nearest rival.

The B50/17 saw riders complete two laps of a flat out and back course on the A143 between Harleston and the junction with the A146.

Conditions for event stayed dry and were fast and despite it being a single carriageway course with several roundabouts a host of personal best times were recorded.

Jay’s best finish this season before the event was a fourth place in the Godric CC 10, clocking 20-57 on that occasion.

However, over the longer distance the experienced rider set a winning time of 1-51-19 which was a minute and four seconds faster than his nearest rival.

Fellow veteran and scratch rider Dan Blackburn (Epic Orange Race Team) won the Norwich ABC 10 earlier this season but had to settle for second this time out in 1-52-23.

Para-cyclist Ryan Gray (Ride Harder) completed the podium positions taking a fine third place overall clocking 1-53-55.

In the women’s event Leech added another win to her collection after also winning the Norwich ABC 10 last month.

This time out Leech, aged 48, clocked a winning time of 2-09-34 which was three minutes and 26 seconds quicker than her nearest challenger.

Charlotte Smith (#PoweredbyProctor) led the battle behind taking second in 2-13-00 while Cheryl Tye (Plomesgate CC) placed third (2-36-33).
