Junior rider Matthew Houlberg and Team LDN’s Olivia Bentley produced fantastic rides to win the East Sussex CA hill climb on the GH/84 course on Saturday.
Houlberg, of Meudon Pedal Heaven Le Col RT, followed up his 16th place in the junior category of the RTTC National Closed Circuit Championships last weekend with victory here, completing the 1,433 yard distance with 374 feet of elevation in a good time of 3:56.0.
Just over seven seconds down in second place was Daniel Hills (Sunday Echapee) with 4:03.3 and completing the podium was David Ross (LFGSS CC) in 4:07.8.
Bentley’s time of 4:58.7 was enough for her to claim the women’s prize with Gemma Hobson of URDT taking the runner-up prize.
The team prize was hotly contested by Trainsharp, Eastbourne Rovers, Southborough District Wheelers and Lewes Wanderers all battling it out. In the end, it was Southborough who prevailed over Lewes by just 0.3 seconds.
