National champion Ed Laverack (VAMos.CC) showed his power over longer climbs once again to power to victory in the first climb of the Team Swindon Cycles/Swindon Wheelers HC, while Rebecca Richardson (Team Brother UK) won the women’s event.
The Team Swindon event started with the longer UH60B climb over three miles.
Laverack who won his national crown over a longer effort last season took his first victory of the season clocking a winning time of eight minutes and 29 seconds into a headwind.
He was pushed all the way by Andy Nichols (Team Lifting Gear Products/Cycles in Motion) who finished just three seconds back in 8.32 while Richard Gildea (Didcot Phoenix CC) rounded off the podium positions clocking 8.47.
Richardson clocked 10-13.8 to win by around three seconds from Louise Hart (Monmouth Tri Club), with Bext Dew (Army Cycling) third.
The juvenile event for youngsters aged 15 or younger was won by Joseph Wright (Team Zoyland) 10-31.
