Nick Livermore

Nick Livermore (Bristol South CC) and Megan Dickerson (Skoda DSI Cycling Academy) showed signs of good early season form and took clear victories in the Dursley Road Club 10.

Livermore, aged 29 and from Bristol, also hit the ground running last season and took overall victory by 24 seconds on this occasion.

The out and back U7B course near Dursley sees riders start just north of Woodford before heading north on the A38 before turning for home at the roundabout with the A4135.

Riders faced a headwind on the return journey and standing water on a section of the course following overnight rain.

The out and back 10 is slightly undulating with longer draggy climbs on the way out and shorter steeper climbs on the return journey.

Livermore won the Western Time Trials Association 100, Bristol South CC 25 and Bath CC 24 last season.

He showed his winter speed work to clock a winning time of 21 minutes and 10 seconds.

Megan Dickerson

Ted Cross (University of Bristol CC) won a close battle for second in 21.52, finishing just 16 seconds ahead of Eugene Cross (Team Lifting Gear Products/Cycles In Motion).

Meanwhile 23-year-old Dickerson, also from Bristol, took her second win in as many weeks in the women’s category after taking the Salt and Sham CC 10 last weekend.

On this occasion Dickerson went quicker than the previous week to set a winning time of 22 minutes and 33 seconds, also good enough for fourth overall.

Louise Georgi (Giant CC/Halo Films) finish second in 27.23 while Mary-jane Hutchinson (Bristol South CC) took third in 34.38.

“It wasn’t the best conditions and the wind was still quite high,” said Dickerson. “The conditions weren’t ideal and I also got caught up at a roundabout which was a bit frustrating and then there was a horrible headwind on the way back.

“It was pretty good and I’m happy to put down some decent rides. It’s quite hard at the start of the season as you forget how to pace your effort.

“It takes a couple of events to get back used to it.”
