Ben Lloyd (Pro Vision Cycle Clothing) took victory on his local roads in the Midlands VTTA 10, while under-23 rider Gabriella Homer (Team Boompods) won the women’s event.

Lloyd, aged 29 and from Newcastle-under-Lyme, used his local knowledge of the K48/10 course to perfection and took victory by just four seconds.

The course saw riders start just outside Weston, near Stafford, before heading north westerly into a cross headwind on the A51 towards Stone before hitting a rolling section until the turn at the junction of the A34 at Aston-by-Stone.

Following the turn riders were rewarded with a cross tailwind on the return journey over the rolling terrain before racing back to Weston.

Road rider Lloyd has turned his hand to time trialling this season and finished third in the Beacon Wheelers 10 last weekend.

His time of 20-03 pushed Leon Wright (Race Hub) into second by four seconds (20.07) while under-23 rider Oliver Peckover (ActiveEdge Race Team P/B Cooper/BMW Inchcape) finished third clocking a time of 20-11.

In eighth overall Tim Hood (Team Bottrill) was the quickest veteran on standard in +6:09 ahead of
Sean Vincent (Race Hub) in second (+5:22) and Michael Wills (Team Lutterworth CC) was third veteran on standard in +5:15.

Homer finished third in the Leamington C&AC event over 10 miles last month but went two positions better on this occasion.

Her time of 23-46 was 16 seconds faster than Keri Parton (Pro Vision Cycle Clothing) who finished in 24-02.

The final podium position went to Gail Lowe (Niteriders) whose time of 26-20 was just 13 seconds quicker than Laura Powell (Royal Leamington Spa Cycling Club).
