Under-23 rider Cameron Biddle (Vredestein Basso) and Becky Hair (Magspeed Racing) gave their morale’s a boost ahead of the National Hill Climb Championships by both taking narrow victories in the Matlock CC event on Bank Road.
Taking place in the afternoon on the shorter Bank Road climb both riders had taken podium places on the morning’s Riber hill.
The Bank Road climb is positioned in the centre of Matlock and is 700 yards in length with an average gradient of 12% and maximum of 25%.
Biddle, aged 22, has been on fine form this season and also took victory the previous day in the Team Tor 2000 event.
After finished third on the morning’s Riber climb Biddle took his second win of the weekend clocking a winning time of one minute and 46.9 seconds.
Andy Nichols (Team Lifting Gear Products/Cycles In Motion) finished second in the morning’s event and again finished runner-up in 1-47.6.
Jude Taylor (Crimson Orientation Marketing RT) followed up his third place on the Riber by another podium place taking third again in 1-53.8.
Taking fifth place overall on the climb and just seven seconds off the podium places Kieran Smith (Team Lifting Gear Products/Cycles In Motion) was quickest junior in 1-54.4.
Darrell Clarke (Ilkeston Cycle Club) was fastest veteran in 2-06.5 while quickest juvenile was Ryan Williams (Beeston Cycling Club) who finished in 2-20.9.
After finished second on the Riber in the morning Hair turned the tables on her rivals in the afternoon taking victory by a single second.
Hair’s time of 2-38.0 beat the morning’s winner Jo Tindley (CAMS -Tifosi) into second on this occasion in 2-39.8 while Nicola Soden (Datalynx-Parenesis Cycling) finished third in 2-55.8.
Haddi Conant (Team Lifting Gear Products/Cycles In Motion) was quickest under-23 rider in 3-07.4 while Amelie Wayte (Matlock CC) was quickest junior in 3-08.1.
As in the morning’s event Maia Howell (Matlock CC) was quickest juvenile clocking a time of 3-30.5 on Bank Road.
