Faye Faber beat out host club riders as Marcin Bialoblocki set a new 15-mile competition record in the a3crg’s midweek 15-mile open event near Liphook, Hampshire.

Polishman Bialoblocki was in ever-impressive form and proceeded to add yet another national record to his palmares, clocking 26-35 – nearly a minute quicker than Chris Fennell’s previous record set in June of 27-33 – on the same course.

Bialoblocki had been hoping to be riding the National 25 Championship on the weekend but due to its postponement, that goal will be pushed back until later in the year.

Daniel Northover (Finsbury Park CC) had won a3crg’s previous midweek fixture only a week ago as well the ten-mile time trial the weekend before but a third consecutive win hosted by the same club was thwarted by the serial national title winner.

Northover posted a time of 27-57 for his second consecutive second-place finish in comfortable fashion.

Capping off the podium spots was Mark Smith (Crawley Wheelers) in third with a time of 28-37.

Smith added yet another podium to a very good record this year but after securing nine wins so far, he has been unable to top the field for an elusive tenth time in his last seven events on record.

Faye Faber made it a NOPINZ double as she beat a trio of the promoting teams’ riders.

At the last time of trying on the P884b/15 course, Faber fell short of Emma Lewis who set a new national record. But this time, Faber’s time of 31-55 was good enough to see her emerge victorious.

Angela Carpenter was the fastest of the three a3crg riders behind Faber, clocking 32-28 to finish seconds ahead of team-mate Kirsty McSeveney in third with 33-51.

Sarah Matthews was the third promoting team’s rider over the line in fourth place.

A tussle for the national team record broke out with Bialoblocki’s NOPINZ being challenged by Didcot Phoenix CC.

The Phoenix trio of Henry Latimer, Richard Gildea and Harri James set a new record benchmark of 1-27-58 but after Bialoblocki’s monstrous time, NOPINZ smashed the record with Conrad Moss and Lee Frost accompanying Marcin to clock a time of 1-24-05.

The favourable heated conditions also saw Rachael Elliot (Newbury RC) and Ian Greenstreet (AeroCoach) continue their tandem dominance by setting a new national record themselves, crossing the line in 27-55.
