The trainSharp duo of Sally Turner and Howard Shaw were victorious and awarded maximum points in the East Sussex CA 10 near East Hoathly on Saturday, part of the East Sussex CA points competition.

Howard Shaw (trainSharp) maintained his impressive form in the points competition by taking yet another victory to stay top of the table.

Shaw’s time of 20-24 along with David Clark – who stands second overall – finishing sixth now gives Shaw a commanding lead with only two events left to run of the series.

Christopher McNamara (Nuun-Sigma Sport-London RT) took his third podium of the points competition having ridden just three of the events.

The 44-year-old had previously won the two-up event before finishing second to twin brother Simon in the first 10-mile event. Chris mirrored that result and finished 17 seconds off Shaw’s ace in 20-41.

Matthew Smith (Team ASL) was just another 17 seconds adrift in third, posting a time of 20-58.

In the women’s event, Sally Turner (trainSharp) clawed a point back in the overall points standings with a comfortable win on the ten-mile G10/87 circuit with a time of 23-42.

Turner was five points behind Lisa Davies in the overall classifications prior to today but a 49-second victory helped her pull within four going into the penultimate round.

Despite Turner winning the four events she entered, Davies (trainSharp) had the luxury of an extra rounds points to keep her top and consolidated as best she could, finishing second behind Turner this time around.

Davies clocked 24-31 and should she record now lower than a second and third respectively in the last two rounds, the overall title will be hers.

Olivia Webb (Eastbourne Rovers CC) was third in 25-33.

In the men’s classifications, nearest challenger to Howard Shaw – David Clark (Eastbourne Rovers CC) – finished sixth which means barring two freak results, the overall title is virtually sealed for Shaw.

Fabien Large (Nopinz) topped the junior timesheets with a time of 22-14.
