Lucy Lee was fastest woman while Andrew Feather further established his national title form in the Holme Valley Wheelers hill-climb event in Holmfirth on Saturday.
Feather (Champions System UK) travelled from Derbyshire to West Yorkshire on Saturday with the Rutland CC Mam Nick title under his belt and was relentless in taking his second victory of the day.
With the National Championship only two weeks away Feather’s form has gone from strength to strength and now looks like the major favourite to retain his title.
He clocked a winning time of 4-48.5 ahead of Jude Taylor (Cycles in Motion).
Taylor, from Garforth near Leeds, finished 10 seconds down on the winning time, clocking 4-58.6 just a matter of hours after being victorious only a few miles away at the Huddersfield Star Wheelers hill-climb held in Jackson Bridge.
George Peden (Uni of Leeds CC) finished third in 5-11.7.
Lucy Lee (Velo Club Melyd) was a convincing winner in the women’s category, topping the timesheets by 17 seconds.
Lee’s efforts ended in a time of 6-30.9 to win the event after finishing third in the same Rutland CC hill-climb Feather featured in in the morning.
Hannah Tweddell (Cycles in Motion) finished second in 6-47.4 with Gemma Hobson third.
In other categories Patrick Casey (Cycle Sport Pendle) pipped Archie Irving (Beacon Wheelers) to the fastest boy under 18 years of age.
Casey – a juvenile – clocked 6-16.0, finishing ahead of junior rider Irving by just 0.6 seconds.
Brendan Hirst (Rugby Racing CC) was quickest vet with a time of 6-14.4 to finish tenth overall.
