Hannah Benson (Ilkley CC) and Jack Brown (ActiveEdge Race Team) were the main winners as Ilkley CC staged a 10-mile time trial in West Yorkshire on Sunday morning.
Benson, 47, covered the V810 course near Addingham in 34-34 to take the women’s prize by around a minute and a half from Otley CC’s Claire Jessop, while Rachel Crowther (Otley CC) was third.
And in the men’s event Brown, 19 and from Huddersfield, clocked 24-12 to win overall by just over a minute from Ribble Pro Cycling’ Chris Sherriffs, while Toby Cowell (Cambridge University CC) was third, another six seconds back.
The course takes riders from the start to the north of Addingham up to the A59 and along to the outskirts of Skipton before turning south and east along the A65, through Draughton and on to the finish to the west of Addingham.
Team Chronomaster veteran Craig Battersby was fourth overall just four seconds behind Cowell, while second fastest veteran and fifth overall was Ian Mitchelson (Halifax Imperial Wheelers).
The win was Brown’s first of the new season, having previously finished fifth overall in the Ely and District CC hardriders 25-mile event last month.
He is next due to be in action in the Stretford Wheelers 10 next Saturday, before tackling the Ogmore Valley Wheelers 25 on the fast R25/3h course in South Wales on April 7.
Benson’s victory in the women’s event was her first appearance of 2019, but was more than four minutes slower than her performance in the same event 12 months earlier.
