Christina Murray and Chris Bartley were fastest woman and man across Andover Wheelers’ 25-mile time trial event on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Inter-Services Championship was won by the Army Cycling team, in a competition which included the times of the fastest six riders.
Bartley (AS Test Team) kept his season’s 100 per cent win record intact with a resounding victory in the South of England.
The former 2012 Olympic silver medal and 2010 World champion rower stopped the timekeeper’s watches on 49-15, beating RAF CA rider Luke Pollard’s earlier benchmark of 50-33 by some distance.
Only scratchman Joshua Clark (Royal Navy & Royal Marines CA) had the chance to topple Bartley’s time but it wasn’t to be as he eventually finished fifth.
Pollard should still be heartened with an impressive 1-2 start to the season with inevitably more events in the pipeline.
In a field packed with servicemen and women for the Inter-Services 25-mile Championship, Richard Jennings (Army Cycling) capped off the podium places in 51-41.
Christina Murray was ruthless in her winning ride, carving a little more than three minutes out of the previous best time on the day.
Murray went under the hour mark with a time of 59-11 to capture her fist victory of the season after a solid and consistent start.
Claire Weston (RAF CA) led the best of the rest with a time of 1-02-12 to seal second place a minute ahead of Charlotte Marshall (Royal Navy & Royal Marines CA) in an all servicewomen podium.
Quickest veteran was Jonathan Gates (RAF CA) who fell fifteen seconds short of podium in fourth place after crossing the line in 51-56.
