Matt Burden and Lizzy Stocker were top man and woman respectively in Sunday’s 10-mile event hosted by CC Weymouth in Dorset.
Burden (73 Degrees Bicycles) started where he left off in 2018; on the winners’ step. The 42-year-old ended last season with two consecutive victories, three in total and no placings below second so the result wasn’t entirely a surprise.
He was out around twenty minutes before the last few riders, posting a time of 20-41 but rider by rider, none could match or eclipse him.
In second place, junior Thomas Day (Giant CC-Halo Films) came the closest but was seven seconds short, clocking a 20-48 in his first open event of the season.
Unlike the aforementioned, James Horton had ridden previously this season with two wins to his name. Horton could only clamber to the last podium step however, crossing the line in 20-53.
Lizzy Stocker (IRIS Race Team) made it back-to-back wins in time trialling with a compelling win in Dorset. She clocked a 25-20, finishing 1-04 ahead of second place.
Rachel Hackman (Royal Navy & Royal Marines CA) finished second in 26-24 and Rosey Mushens (Velo Club St Raphael) third in 26-37.
