Reigning National Champion Fiona Burnie (GS Metro) slashed more than a minute off the ten-year-old course record, while David Fellows (Solihull CC) was fastest male in the Border City Wheelers CC event on Hartside in Cumbria.
The 7.8 kilometres in length L804 hill climb heads out of Melmerby on the A686 in Cumbria has an average gradient of 5.1 per cent and a 400 metres elevation gain before finishing at Gamblesby Fell.
Burnie clocked 20-09 to take the win in her first hill-climb appearance since winning last year’s national title.
Meanwhile, Fellows finished fourth in the Buxton CC/Sett Valley Cycles event last weekend but went three places better on this occasion.
The 26-year-old from Birmingham clocked a winning time of 17 minutes and 43 seconds over the lengthy climb.
After finishing second in the Yorkshire CF HC back in June Andy Cunningham had to settle for second again on this occasion 10 seconds behind in 17.53.
Meanwhile third place was taken by Martin Mikkelsen-Barron (Velo Club Cumbria) in 18.12. Quickest veteran was Matt Moorhouse (Preston CC).
