Harriet Gilson and Kieran Wynne-Cattanach took hill-climbing victory in the first stage of Lancaster CC’s double header in Condor Bottom on Sunday.

Wynne-Cattanach (B38/Cycles in Motion) kicked off Sunday’s double header in style, winning the event for the second time with his other victory coming back in 2016.

The 22-year-old rider clocked 1-44.7 in the return of the annual event after 2018’s cancelled running in which Mike Morris came out on top.

Kieran would go onto place inside the top three again in the day’s later Jubilee Towers stage.

Tom Garnett (Ilkley CC) was closest to Wynne-Cattanach but couldn’t challenge and fell seven seconds behind the winner’s time.

Garnett finished the sub-mile circuit in 1-51.8, pipping Blaydon CC’s Marcus Cram by a mere 0.2 seconds.

Cram clocked a time of 1-52 to continue an impressive hill-climbing run of form continuing from last season and he would also go on to have an even better showing in the day’s second stage.

In the women’s category, Harriet Gilson (Tri Preston) fended off Sharon Clifford to take the first stage of Sunday’s action.

Gilson clocked a time of 2-47.6 in her first hill-climb open event on record.

The 29-year-old also claimed the overall prize as no women participated in the second stage of the day.
