Matt Burden and Jennifer George finished as fastest man and woman respectively in a 10-mile time-trial hosted by Cardiff 100 Miles RCC in Monmouthshire on Saturday afternoon.
Burden (73 Degrees Bicycles/WestSide Coaching RT) took his win tally to five for the season after posting one of three sub 20-minute times in the event.
The 42-year-old averaged 30.9mph on the R10/17 course that follows the A40 west before heading back, submitting a time of 19-24.
His time beat that of Alexander Royle (Manchester Bicycle Club) who posted a 19-35 moments before.
Royle managed to hold onto second place for his 15th podium of the season with eight of those ending as victories.
Howard Shaw (trainSharp) wasn’t far behind however, crossing the line only six seconds off the pace of Royle in 19-41. Shaw himself has had a fruitful time this year with nine podiums including four wins.
Experienced road racer Jennifer George (Torelli) returned to winning ways after placing 14th in last weekend’s National 10-mile Championship.
George had won five consecutive open events before the national title challenge and on Saturday she was in typical superb form.
The 36-year-old covered the 10-mile circuit on 21-42 finishing 16th overall.
In second place, Rosey Mushens (73 Degrees Bicycles/WestSide Coaching RT) took a third consecutive podium finish after clocking a time of 23-32.
Completing the major placings was Susan Shook (Bush Healthcare CRT) in 24-01.
