Andy Jackson (AeroCoach) averaged over 30mph for the first time in a 50-mile time trial, as he powered to victory in the Bike Pace 50-mile event near Abergavenny in South Wales on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Vicky Jowett (Plymouth Corinthian CC) was the fastest female with a new personal best time of 1-57-50.
Jackson, the 43-year-old from Holmfirth in West Yorkshire, clocked 1-39-33 to take the win by 53 seconds from Team Bottrill rival Stuart Travis, while the podium was completed by Chris Gibbard (Bynea CC) who was another 55 seconds back in third spot.
Jowett’s winning time was just over four minutes quicker than Marianne Holt (Team Bottrill), while third spot went to Vikki Sivertsen (Malvern Tri Club).
The R50/1b course starts to the south of Abergavenny and mainly uses the A40 through Raglan and on towards the south west fringes of Monmouth near Mitchel Troy before heading back to Abergavenny. Riders pass the start point and head closer to Abergavenny, before turning and completing a second lap.
It was Jackson’s second victory of the year following a win in the Burton and District CA 25 in April – but he has not been off the podium in any event he has ridden so far this season with second spot in the Nelson Wheelers hilly 50 and the Croston Velo 10 in April, the Coventry CC 10 in May.
He also rode the Welsh CA 25 Championship and the South Pennine RC 25 earlier this month and placed third on each occasion.
His busy programme of racing continues with the Anfield BC 100 on Bank Holiday Monday, before the Nottingham Clarion 50 on June 2 and the City RC Hull 10 on Tuesday, June 4.
Jowett’s win in the women’s category was her fourth victory of the season so far, coming after she was fastest woman in the Plymouth Corinthian CC 13 in March, the Mid-Devon CC sporting 23 in April, and the Alltrax 10 last week.
She also placed fifth fastest woman in the highly-competitive Sportzmad 25 on the fast Rhigos course, clocking an impressive 56-01.
Jowett is down to ride the Mid-Devon CC 10 on Thursday night, and has once again entered the Sportzmad 25 at Rhigos on June 2 where she will be targeting another personal best performance.
The Bike Pace 50 also had a road bike category which was won by Kelwyn Rogers (Plymouth Corinthian CC) with 2-03-32, while fastest junior on a road bike was Thomas Harrington (Abergavenny RC) in 2-04-48.
