Chris Fennell (The Independent Pedaler) smashed his own course record by a minute and a half in the VTTA Kent 30 while Andrew Meilak (VeloRefined.com) was the fastest veteran on standard.

Fennell, aged 23, clocked a winning time of one hour and 18 seconds along the A2070 out and back course near Ashford.

After finishing second in the Closed Circuit National Championships last year, Fennell has already secured a host of victories in this campaign.

His latest win saw him clock a time which was one minute and 30 seconds faster than his 1:01.48 in the corresponding event last year.

He was chased home by brother Nicholas Fennell (Thanet RC) who finished over four minutes behind in 1:04.25.

Fastest veteran on scratch and standard was Andrew Meilak (VeloRefined.com Aerosmiths) who finished third overall with a time of 1:04.55 which was +17.37 on standard also earning him the Charles Robson Cup.

Meilak also picked up the award for first team of two on standard alongside team-mate Mark Hill.

Second on veteran standard was Nick Wilson (+17:20) while bronze medals for third and fourth went to Mark Hill (+14:50) and John Osborn (+14:40).

Fastest woman on the day was veteran rider Charmaine Pullen (Folkestone Velo) who clocked a winning time of 1:16.24.
