Kevin Tye (VeloRefined.com) and Angela Carpenter (…a3crg) battled windy conditions to win the VTTA National 25 Championships while mixed tandem pairing Rachael Elliott (Newbury RC) & Ian Greenstreet (AeroCoach) set a new national competition record.

Despite the difficult conditions which was thought to put an average of three minutes onto times, Elliott and Greenstreet set a new record of 47 minutes and nine seconds.

The fast E2/25 course sees riders start just outside Newmarket before travelling on the A14 towards Cambridge travelling on the A11 before turning for home at Fourwentways roundabout.

Tye, aged 57 and from Kent, clocked a time of 49 minutes and 42 seconds which was good enough for fifth overall on scratch and fastest veteran on standard with a +19.48 to win gold.

James Rix (Team Bottrill) was fastest scratch rider on the day, clocking 48.07.
