Louise Robinson and Colin Ward powered to victory for promoting club Essex Roads CC in their 10.3-mile Lou Smith Memorial event in East Hanningfield, Essex on Wednesday evening.
Colin Ward claimed his fourth solo win of the year and this time on home soil as he led second place by over a minute.
Ward finished with a time of 24-03 to record four consecutive open event wins on record, including a 2-up victory.
Christopher Smith (Eat Plants Not Pigs CC) made it consecutive second place finishes with a time of 25-19 but couldn’t find an elusive second victory after last gracing the top step of the podium at the beginning of June.
MG Cycling Team rider Russell Hampton completed the podium to pick up his third top-three finish of the season so far, with one of those coming as a win.
Hampton finished 18-seconds behind Smith clocking 25-37.
In the women’s category, Louise Robinson (Essex Roads CC) picked up her seventh victory of the season after a dominant performance in her home event.
Robinson crossed the line in 29-21 to finish fourteenth overall and over a minute ahead of the next nearest female.
Julia Freeman (Easterley Road Club) was that next nearest woman as she stopped the watches on 30-29, splitting two Essex Roads CC riders in second place.
Robinson’s host club teammate Gill Carter couldn’t make it a 1-2 for Essex Roads CC but their team still had a good day taking half of the six men and women’s podium places that were available.
Carter crossed the line with a time of 30-57 in third.
