Joe Perkins (Aerolab Ward Wheelz) snatched victory by just two seconds in the Lea Valley CC 10 while Emma Lewis (The Independant Pedaler) won the women’s event.
Difficult weather conditions challenged riders on the out and back E2/10 along the fast A11 course near Cambridge.
Perkins, who won the BUCS Championships over 10 miles last month, went 40 seconds faster than the time he set on that occasion to win in a time of 18 minutes and 41 seconds.
He finished just two seconds quicker than that of Jason Bouttell (Team Vision Racing Silverhook) while Adam Bidwell led the chase in third clocking 18.54.
Lewis had a more convincing win in the women’s event and battled the tough conditions to set a fast time of 19 minutes and 59 seconds, knocking over a minute off her personal best.
Lauren Kirchel (Chelmer CC) took second in 22.40 while Mandy Bunn (Datalynx-Parenesis Cycling) finished third in 24.00.
