Alex Clay and Richard Bussell topped their respective categories in the AeroCoach ten-mile road bike time trial on Sunday morning in Warwickshire.
Home club rider Bussell was in a class of his own over the ten-mile distance he is so familiar with, clocking a time nearly a minute-and-a-half better than his closest rival.
Bussell, twice the National 10-mile champion, clocked 20-15 on a very challenging K34/10d course in sunny yet windy conditions.
Danny Axford (Arctic Aircon RT) rode to his third podium of the year with a time of 21-43, pipping Team Bottrill’s George Fox by a matter of seconds.
Axford has failed to finish outside the top-six so far this year – his sixth place a respectable one coming in the opening National title, the Circuit Championship.
George Fox crossed the line four seconds behind Axford in 21-47.
Alex Clay (Aerolab Ward WheelZ) recorded a winning time of 24-32 ahead of Chris Melia to claim her first solo open event win on record this season.
Clay has seen three-up glory this season but had to settle for second in her previous best solo result.
Melia (Born to Bike) couldn’t make it a hattrick of consecutive wins and had to settle for second just under a minute behind the eventual winner in 25-27.
Debbie Bradley (Team Bottrill) completed the podium in third.
