Pat Wright (Paceline RT) and Jackie Dodd (Kingston Phoenix CC) were quickest man and woman in the Southern Counties CU 10-mile time trial on Saturday.
In-form Wright sealed victory once again in 2018 after he powered his way to a sizeable victory over David Rumm (Southborough & District Wheelers) after posting a time of 20-26.
The Paceline RT rider led his nearest competitor by 1-23, quite a feat considering the short 10-mile distance. The win takes Wright’s tally this season to an impressive five in his 13 starts, finishing no lower than fifth.
David Rumm held on for what is believed to be his highest finish of the season but ultimately could not trouble winner, Wright.
The 50-year-old from Kent finished in 21-49 which is by no means Rumm’s fastest time of the year but it was enough to finish 22 seconds ahead of third place Andy Tedd.
Andy Tedd (South Downs Bikes/Casco Europe) completed the podium which saw the event’s top three having a complete overhaul from the previous running with James Rix winning last year.
Tedd’s third place finish may be his best of the current season, with the South Downs rider crossing the line in 22-11. Tedd will undoubtedly be pleased after placed 15th in his last outing in the Sussex CA 25.
Jackie Dodd (Kingston Phoenix CC) was fastest woman of the day, bettering her 2017 third-placed performance after completing the G10/41 course in 28-23, seeing her finish in 21st overall.
The event saw a change in course to the G10/41 circuit in which riders start on Marches Road just outside Kingsfold taking the A24 north all the way to Beare Green roundabout and on to Ockley.
The course sees undulating terrain challenge riders climbing and descending skills despite being a relatively straight course.
