AS Test Team colleagues Chris Bartley and Katie Greves were fastest male and female riders respectively as Hampshire Road Club staged a 25-mile time trial near Greatham on Sunday.

34-year-old Bartley covered the P881 course in 46-50 to take the win by 1-38 from Gary Chambers (NOPINZ) while third was Ken Buckley (Spokes BPC) who was 2-17 off Bartley’s pace.

Greves clocked 53-16 to finish as fastest female by almost two and a half minutes from Eastbourne Rovers rival Ruth Summerford, while Elise Sherwell (Blazing Saddles) was third.

Joining Bartley and Greves in the winning team was David Woodhouse, whose time of 50-49 was good enough for sixth overall.

It was not the first time this season that Bartley has tasted victory. He won the a3crg 10 at the end of may, and was also victorious in the Westerley CC 10, the Farnborough & Camberley CC 25 and the Oxonian CC 36 in April.

And for Greves too, this victory is the first of many she has secured in the 2018 season.

Last month she was fastest female in the a3crg 10 and the VTTA 10, while she was also victorious in the Oxonian CC 36 in April and the High Wycombe CC 10 in March.

The P881/25 course starts just south of Greatham and heads onto the A3 eastbound, turning at Bramshott and retracing past and onwards to another turn to the south west of Liss, then heads back up to the finish just off the A3 junction.

Conditions were dry for the event which had attracted a full field of 120 riders, but a headwind on the return leg caused PBs to be at a premium, with many local riders saying the course had proved faster for the previous week’s Portsmouth North End CC promotion.
