Richard Dean emerged as the fastest rider at the 25-mile Yorkshire RC event in Dishforth on Sunday, setting a time of 53.08. Sarah Lewthwaite was a comfortable women’s winner in 1:04.07.
A strong south-westerly wind blew across the course at the event that ran parallel to a 50-mile competition also organised by the Yorkshire club.
It meant that any personal bests or course records would be hard to come by, although there were some good rides to pick out from the day.
Dean, riding for Cyclomania, completed in 53.08 – enough to give him the win by 4.04. The 39-year-old has enjoyed success over 25 miles in recent weeks with a win at the Rockingham CC event. He followed this up with second place at the Bolsover & Disctrict 10 last weekend.
In second place, riding for Giant Halifax RT was Levi Moody, the espoir completing in 57.12. Levi did just enough to pinch second with his dad Craig (VTTA Yorkshire) just six seconds behind on Father’s Day!
There was a fantastic ride from teenager Sam Murray, the Drag2zero rider completing in 59.01. A good day in the Murray household with his dad, Keith, finishing third in the 50-mile event.
Sarah Lewthwaite was the fastest woman on the day. The Team Sportslab rider stopped the clock at 1:04.07 with second-placed Jo Short of Darlington CC coming in at 1:12.48.
