Team Echelon’s Jon Howard took his first win of the season with victory in the 10mile Wyre Forest CRC event in Severn Stoke on Saturday and he was joined on the podium by Beacon Roads CC’s Gemma Johnson, who was the fastest woman on the day.

Howard took podium finishes in March and May but topped it for the first time in a while here, racing to a time of 20.34 to take top spot.

It was a closely-contested win with runner-up David Mead of Lutterworth Cycle Centre RT just two seconds off his pace in 20.36.

Just another two seconds behind in third was David Kiernan of Team Jewson – MI Racing in 20.38.

The event boasted a field of 18 women and the quickest was Gemma Johnson of Beacon Roads CC who completed in 23.38, placing her 13th overall.

Annabel Prow of Nottingham Clarion CC was next fastest in 25.05 and third was Denise Burrows of (THE Cycle Studio) in 25.12.
