Tim Cartwright was too quick for the opposition as he stormed to victory in the 50-mile Oxonian CC event on Sunday.

The Newbury RC rider was more than six minutes clear of his nearest rival after stopping the clock in an impressive 1:42.04.

It was the first time this course had been used for the event and Cartwright wasted no time in laying down a good time to make it three wins in a row.

Cartwright’s form has been fantastic this year, following on from last year where he signed off with back-to-back wins.

As well as winning the Andover Wheelers 10 and Newbury RC 10 in June and July respectively, he also topped the podium in the Poole Wheelers 10 and the Andover Wheelers 25.

He has also picked up runner-up prizes in the Didcot Phoenix CC 25 and the Charlotteville CC 50.

Oliver Mytton of Verulam CC was on the second step of the podium here, completing in 1:48.26 – just seven seconds quicker than third-placed Ryan Davies of AS Test Team.

In the women’s category, it was Christina Murray of the Army Cycling Union that took top prize in 2:05.16 with home club rider Emma Mcdermott second in 2:21.53. Danielle Edmunds of Oxford University CC completed the podium in 2:22.49.
