Zeb Kyffin and Hannah Farran were the fastest male and female at the Muckle CC hill climb in Corbridge, Northumberland, on Sunday morning.
In-form Kyffin (Ribble Pro Cycling) clocked a time of 3-37 to add another victory to his tally for the season and continue his good form in the build up to the National Hill Climb Championships which take place next weekend.
The Ribble Pro Cycling rider topped the podium at the Sunderland Clarion CC two-stage at the end of September as well as being victorious at the Cestria CC hill climb but Kyffin expressed his delight at his performance on Sunday.
“Well, that was much better! I did a fairly convincing negative split and was one second up on Marcus (Cram) with a minute to go and by the finish, I’d won by 12 seconds. I think I just paced it perfectly on the day. Cheers to Muckle for a mega event!”, said Kyffin.
Marcus Cram (Blaydon CC) finished in second with a time of 3-48.
Cram has several podium finishes in recent weeks with Kyffin getting the better of him on a number of occasions.
The Blaydon CC rider finished second at both the Sunderland Clarion two-stage and the Cestria CC hill climbs respectively.
The third fastest male on the day was Thomas Prentice (GS Metro) who clocked a time of 3-52.
The 17-year-old rider was last victorious at the GS Metro hill climb on the 27th of September and also finished second at the National Team Time Trial Championships on the 24th of the same month.
Hannah Farran (Boompods EDCO NRG) set the fastest time by a woman that day by finishing her run with a time of 5-02.
Farran has been in excellent form of late, with numerous victories on her record. She was victorious last weekend at the Houghton CC hill climb and on October 7 at the Blaydon CC two-stage.
“I really enjoyed today’s climb – the gradient and the length of the climb was perfect for me. My power was good and I paced it well and just dug in for the final 100 metres, ” said a very pleased Farran.
