Chris Fennell (The Independent Pedaler) and Charmaine Pullen (Folkestone Velo Club) took the men’s and women’s victories by clear margins in the Sydenham Wheelers 25-mile time trial near Harrietsham on Sunday.

Fennell, who was fastest at the VTTA National 30-Mile Championship last month, cruised to victory by nearly two minutes over the shorter distance, clocking a winning time of 51 minutes and 16 seconds.

The G25/20 saw riders compete on an out and back course along the A20 near Maidstone in Kent.

Fennell also won the West Kent RC 25 over the same course last July but clocked a faster time of 50.43 on that occasion.

His brother Nicholas Fennell (Thanet RC) led the rest of the field home by taking second place comfortably with a 53.08 while John Cockrill (Abellio-SFA Racing Team) took third in 54.37.

Mike Piper (Abellio-SFA Racing Team) was the fastest veteran on scratch finishing in 56.11.

Pullen, like Fennell, also won the West Kent RC 10 last month and continued her winning form by clocking a winning time of 1:05.52 and averaging over 22 miles per hour.

She beat Folkestone Velo Club team-mates Susan Walbrook (1:08.59) and Tracy Wilkinson-Begg (1:09.17) into second and third respectively.
