Rowing and Percival lead the way in Kent
Debbie Percival and Tom Rowing took victory in the CC Bexley 10-mile time trial on Saturday morning.
Rowing (Abellio – SFA Racing Team) took his maiden victory of the season in comfortable fashion as he beat the competition by 1-32.
The 21-year-old’s previous best of the season was third place in the Thanet RC 10-mile event earlier this month but his time of 20-59 assured he would supersede that. Tom will look to continue the turn in form with a win in Sunday’s Thanet RC 25.
Rowing’s nearest rival was fellow Abellio team-mate Dean Chiddention (Abellio – SFA Racing Team) who came home with a time of 21-31.
Chiddention’s last outing was in the Medway Velo Club 10 in May where he finished second. The 42-year-old has an affinity with the Q10/24 course after placing second twice in his last two events.
The second placed man also took the prize for fastest veteran of the day.
Gravesend CC rider Neil Harrigan took the last step of the podium finishing 32 seconds adrift of Dean Chiddention.
Harrigan’s performance of 22-03 helped update his 2018 palmares after previous best finish of eighth place way back in February.
Debbie Percival (Kent Velo Girls/Boys) secured a win by a narrow margin after pipping Jo Hitchen (CC Bexley) by nine seconds.
56-year-old Percival posted 27-02 to make the result her second win of the year and continue her streak of top three finishes and now plans to ride in next weekend’s VTTA (Kent Group) 10.
The fastest home club rider was Michael Bebbington with a 24-39 and finished 12th respectively but it was a great day for the Abellio team who had four riders place inside the top 10.
